  • Oscilloscope

    Probe any net or pin. Edge triggering with adjustable level, slope, hold-off, and pre-trigger position. Auto, normal, and single-shot capture, so a one-time event stays on screen.

  • Automatic measurements

    Vpp, Vrms, Vavg, top and base, frequency, period, duty cycle, rise and fall time, and overshoot. Levels come from the settled waveform, not from peaks, so a ringing edge reports honest numbers.

  • Analysis modes

    Operating point for a quick DC answer, transient for behavior over time, DC sweep for a curve across an input, and AC sweep for frequency response across decades.

  • Math and spectrum

    Derive current across a shunt or instantaneous power from two probes. Take an FFT of any channel with selectable windowing when you need the frequency picture instead of the time one.

  • Protocol decode

    Read UART, I2C, and SPI traffic decoded from the captured lines, so a bus problem is legible as frames instead of a wall of edges.

  • Design checks and export

    Rule checks flag floating inputs, conflicting drivers, and power problems before you order parts. Export any capture as CSV when the analysis continues somewhere else.

Is Multisim Live shutting down?

Yes. NI and Digilent have announced that Multisim Live reaches end of life on September 15, 2026. Monthly subscriptions ended on August 1, 2026, and yearly subscriptions are no longer sold or renewed. The official replacement is Multisim Desktop, which is paid software that runs on Windows only.

What happens to my Multisim Live circuits?

Export them before September 15, 2026. NI's path is to import them into Multisim Desktop, and NI's own documentation notes that the transfer is not complete: slider values, text annotations, simulation settings, simulator settings and component parameters do not carry over. If you would rather rebuild in a browser tool that is not going away, Tinkered is free to start and takes about a minute to sign up.

What is the best free Multisim Live alternative?

It depends on what you used Multisim Live for. If you want the browser part, real SPICE analog simulation, schematic capture, probes and an oscilloscope with cursors and automatic measurements, Tinkered covers that and is free. It also runs microcontroller firmware and flashes real boards, which Multisim Live never did.

Do I need to install anything?

Does Tinkered run real SPICE simulation?
